LANCASTER CITY GYMNASTICS
Embark on an emotive journey with the City of Lancaster Gymnastics Club, following the journey a young girl takes to master the sport. Good things take time, but time is all it takes.
BRIEF
The City of Lancaster Gymnastics Club is an internationally acclaimed gymnastics organisation for all ages which has long enjoyed unprecedented success at Club, Regional, National and International level. The club trains at the City of Lancaster Gymnastics Centre, a state-of-the-art gymnastics facility based on the Lancaster Leisure Park.
The gym were looking to produce a video that would show off the facilities and its junior members, highlighting the importance of training, practice and patience. They wanted to use the video to attract new customers and sign ups in their lower age groups, as well as to build brand awareness in the area, and to promote the club on social media.
01 // PRE-PRODUCTION
For ‘Good Things Take Time’, we approached the narrative as a journey, using this concept to showcase the range of ages The City of Lancaster Gymnastics Club work with and train. The club took care of casting, choosing members for added authenticity. They selected girls who had a resemblance to each other, to recreate the journey from beginner to experienced gymnast.
With the music playing a key role in the pace and narrative of the video, we chose the track prior to filming. The track we selected is elegant, delicate and orchestral, portraying a feeling of innocence and nostalgia.A shooting script and storyboard were produced to ensure efficiency and clarity when shooting.
• Directed • Produced • Shot on Red
We filmed on one of our RED Digital Cinema Cameras, shooting at 120fps, so that we could capture the beautiful moments in slow motion, allowing us to have more flexibility in post-production. The footage was captured in 4K resolution.
The video was shot across multiple days, on-location at the City of Lancaster Gymnastics Centre, where we used a mix of staged scenes and footage we captured in scheduled classes.

Working with the shooting script and storyboard we put together in pre-production, we pieced together the 92-second advert. The video was delivered in cinematic widescreen format (2:35.1), as well as in vertical format, for sharing on Instagram.
The club released the video on 15th September 2018 and received 15 new clients within the first 12 hours.
