Holding the largest collection of Portuguese literature outside of Portugal, the library is steeped in culture and stands as an elegant example of the 18th Century Neo-Manueline style.
As part of work for a celebration of Portuguese culture in Rio, we were asked by the Royal Portuguese Reading Room to create a short video showing the history of the beautiful, 18th Century building.

WHAT DID WE DO?
As part of work for a celebration of Portuguese culture in Rio, we were invited by the Royal Portuguese Reading Room to create a short video showing the history of the beautiful, 18th Century building. Drawing on historical accounts and texts by historians, we traced the story of the library back to its origins, creating the first full English video account of the building.
WHAT WE CREATED
Working closely with the staff at the library, we created a video that not only showed the elegance and beauty of the site, but that gave an accurate account of how it came to be one of the most admired libraries in the world. We produced one three minute long film exploring the many beautiful aspects of the library. This script, which we created in-house, was then translated into Portuguese.
